So to review:
1) Vaccines don’t cause autism. The man who did the single study on which the entire anti-vax movement hangs its hat? He has had his credentials as a doctor stripped, been sued repeatedly, and has *admitted that he lied about the study.* He admitted he fixed the results so they’d be the results that the people who were paying him wanted.
2) Vaccines don’t cause autism but they /do/ decrease the herd immunity of the human race.
3) Herd immunity is important. Herd immunity is what means we don’t have polio, or smallpox, or whoop—
— oh, you mean all of those things are making a comeback?
Vaccinate your kids.
It doesn’t cause autism. An extremely, extremely limited number of people will react to vaccines — but your child’s chances of reacting to vaccines is minuscule compared to your child’s — or your — chances of dying from a really fucking horrifying disease if we don’t reverse this trend.
And for fuck’s sake, stop blaming vaccines for autism. My son was born with his brain wired differently. He’s neurodiverse. He isn’t brain-damaged.
ACTUALLY KIDS, to address the immediate argument I will leave this link. I don’t feel qualified enough to touch on it, but this is a very informative 5 minutes strictly on vaccinations and autism.
Here are the things I can touch on (and let me note that I’m not a specialist of any sort. I work for an applied kinesiology chiropractor/certified nutritionist who educates us heavily on all things health related and this is something I just feel strongly about) .
Firstly, no one has whooping cough or any other virus because there are a bunch of unvaccinated kids running around (because there are people who get vaccinated and still end up getting sick, but I’ll get to that later). Although viruses are contagious, you’re only gonna get them if your immune system isn’t working optimally for any reason from poor general health to excessive stress to physical trauma causing subluxations (fun chiropractic term! its a stress on your nervous system, which is basically the information highway for every single thing that happens inside of your body ever, caused by misaligned vertebrae which press down on your nerve branches and disrupt the communication between your brain and whatever that nerve branch is connected to). So you can hug bus loads of viral people and walk away unscathed, or at least bounce back very quickly, as long as your immune system is in tip top shape! You know what actually lowers your immune systems defenses? Vaccinations! Which is why some people get colds and flus and [in much smaller percentages] life-changing diseases immediately after getting vaccinated. Your immune system is too busy creating protective antibodies to fight off the dead virus that was just injected into your arm, leaving you open and inviting to any viruses trying to creep their way into your system. I’m not saying your guaranteed to catch anything, but your defenses are definitely lowered. Also, vaccines (honestly not positive about all vaccines, but this definitely pertains to flu shots) don’t just contain magic antibody-creating catalysts. You’re also injecting other fun things into your system like aluminum and mercury! To make a long story short, yes you can get all the vaccinations in the world and the odds are in your favor that you’ll be fine, but it makes more sense to me to take preventative measures by living a healthy lifestyle (eating well, exercising, meditating, and getting adjusted regularly by a chiropractor) rather than injecting foreign things into your body. Now I’m not saying everyone is doing it right, but don’t go blaming health conscious anti-vaccine people for your sickness. Get your immune system game up.
